I ordered some Nottingham and some Windsor dry yeast by mail order. For the first time ever they left it in my SuperMailBox (sort of like a rural mailbox) instead of giving me a pick up notice.
I'm not sure when it got here it could have been in there for a few hours to up to two days. It's got to about -10 C here at night. (don't even start about that. That's a whole other thread.)
Is the yeast damaged/dead by being partially exposed to freezing temps? It was wraped in packaging and in a mailbox. Still it's not like it had it's own little electric blanket either.
Thanks

ps I know I could proof a pack but I'm asking here first so I know whether I'll need to order a smack pack in reserve.
