I am not a hoppy beer brewer by any means. I brew pretty much belgian style abbey beers and saisons. But, I have a sudden interest in hoppy brews since it's summer and I'm building my keezer. Hoppy beers would seem to be better on tap than in bottles as well. I'm looking for some feedback on the below recipe. I've been reading Mitch Steele's IPA book and trying to make my own recipe from what I've read. Hop schedules have always tripped me up. I've done a few American Pale Ales but nothing too crazy. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

The other feedback I got was more late hops in the additions I have or more additions. I think I may just ramp up what I have and push the IBUs higher to balance out. Then add some dry hopping to it as well.

Thanks for your input!

Aside from dry hops, all I would say is don't bitter with citra and simcoe, move them to later I'm the boil and use magnum or nugget or warrior to fwh and bitter

I'll definitely consider that. I've read Citra and Simcoe both are wonderful bittering hops. Thanks!

I like munich / 60L in my ipa's. It gives you that sweetness to balance out the bitterness. I would also go with dicker's advice and bitter with nugget. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. These are obviously my preferences but other than that it seems very solid.

I am a fan of there being sweetness to balance out the bitterness of the hops for sure! I tweaked it a little bit with some of the hops that I have at the house and changed it to Crystal 60 instead of 40 as well.

See the updated recipe.

I would say push that ounce of Mosaic at 20 minutes to either the five minute addition or the whirlpool and double your dry hopping. Looks great, have fun with it!

I would take the 20 min hops and move them all to flameout. Increase the Warrior to get your IBU's back to around 100.

I like the dry hops you have listed just the way they are.

So no flavor hops at all?

I'm new to hoppy beers so I just figured you wanted something there in the flavoring time.

Gus - check the Heady Topper - can you clone it thread. You'll see that all the hops go in at 90 min, then all the rest go in 5 minutes or less. I've done that recipe twice and you'll get plenty of flavor that way.

Ok awesome! I'll try that out!
