Brewing up a session brew this weekend. Trying out a FWH for the first time. Let me know what you think.

O.G. 1.052 44 IBUs

9 lbs Marris Otter
.5 lbsCrystal 40 @ 152*
6 oz Crystal 120
6 oz Special Roast

1 oz Willamette FWH
.5 oz N. Brewer 60 Min
.5 oz N Brewer 30 Min
.5 oz Willamette 15 min
.5 oz Willamette 1 min

Wyeast London Ale ~68*

You might not need the crystal 40. I made an ordinary bitter from brewing classic styles that had about the same grain bill (less the c40). It was a great malt profile. Also, if you can get English crystal 120, I think it makes a difference.

Looks pretty tasty! Let us know your results. I'd agree on backing off of the Crystal a bit. Just my opinion. Let the hops shine! Did my first FWH recently on a Simcoe/Amarillo pale & it is wonderful! I'll be doing alot of FWH from now on. :tank:

Thanks for the input. I think ill swap out the Crystal 40 for another .5 oz of Maris Otter and throw in an ounce of chocolate malt for a little more color.

Turned out to be a great brew, and has gone pretty quick! Northern Brewer worked really well with Willamette. I think if I brewed it again I would cut back on the Special Roast or maybe even sub it out for some Victory malt. There was a underlying dark toasty flavor that I felt didn't mesh as well as I had planned initially. All in all solid brew though.
