So I've been using this plate filter for 2+ years with no issue at all. Recently (July/August) it has stopped working completely. I've followed the instructions to the letter and my beer/cider goes right through the plate filter as if its not even there. My question is has anyone else that has used this as long as I have had any issues recently? I've even bought a new one and no change.

Here's what I do -

I soak the filter pads in tap water for 2 minutes.
Assemble the plate filter.
Run 1/4 gallon of starsan water through the filter.
Flush 2 gallons of water through the filter.
Run Beer/cider through the filter.

Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, running water after your starsan rinse defeats the purpose of using starsan. It is a no rinse sanitizer.

Your flow through the filter will follow the path of least resistance. It sounds like there is a missing or broken seal somewhere that is allowing the beer to flow around.

Thanks for your reply ColoHox,

The water I push through is to get rid of the papery taste the filters will leave in the beer/cider. But I should probably do that before the sanitizer.

This is the system I'm using -

Its very simple and I've had no issues with it leaking so I'm not sure how a seal could be broken. All the pieces are accounted for and I keep the psi between 3-5.
