i was getting cocky capping my twist offs.
i had read about the breakage problems here but couldn't see it happening to me
well i should have listened to this forum
bottling my barleywine today(i went for carbonated for those who replied to my other thread) i had a bottle neck shatter.
that is a scary thing, glass flew a couple of feet. i was really careful after that.
on checking the bottle i found it was a miller high life. it seems those bottles are quite a bit thinner than the labbatts, canadian, sleemans, bottle i have been capping with no problems.
i have pitched the millers and mikes hard lemonade bottles(seem thin as well)
1 am going to replace all the twist offs as soon as i can

just a quick update - i have a digital scale and weighed some bottles

twist-off canadian,blue, 9.2 ounces empty weight

twist-off miller,mikes hard lemonade,smirnoff ice, 6.8 ounces empty weight

no wonder they break on re-capping they are 35% lighter

Any problems using the sleeman bottles? I bottled my first batch last night in sleeman bottles, and all went smoothly.
