Sunday I had an informal tasting with my father-in-law and brother-in-law. We sampled Imperial Stouts. What a way to spend and afternoon, talk about wasting away the time!

Anyway, we sampled Left Hand's RIS, a Great Divide Yeti and another Oak Aged Yeti.

Last week I had an Oak Aged Yeti and was really unhappy with it (thus the Stupid Hoppy Beers thread). It was like a different beer, much more oak, hops very present but more in balance. It actually kicked butt on the other two.

So, my apologies to all you Yeti lovers for my rant. I could try to claim that the batches were to blaim, but I am well enough aware of my own failing palate to know it is probably just me.

Isn't it in your job description to rant a bit? Oh, wait, sorry, I'm catholic...

Being Protestant my job is more along the lline of helping others see the error of their ways, so that they might take upon themselves the burden of guilt that is due to them and thereby be willing to show there remorse through the giving of great sums of money. Sometimes this demands what might be taken to be a rant, but on the other had it can be seen as a self-help lecture.

Aren't I predestined to see the error of my ways...or not?

That sounds more like the Yeti that I know and love =)

I know what you are saying. I swear my patate changes on a daily basis.

I would say you are predestined to make fine ales and lager to share with friends you have never met but with whom you talk on a nearly daily basis.

As for errors, "Sin boldly, that grace may abound."

I've got two Hefeweizens and a Weizenbock...which do you want? :p Actually, I've also got an amber with a bit of peated malt, but I'm not digging it that much. I'll probably give it to Walker.
