I have 4 jars of my house yeast, a combo of US-05 and S-04 that I have used extensively with great success.

I have 5 jars of kolsh yeast washed from a batch made with the the white labs liquid strain.

Finally, I have another 4 jars of nottingham.

Very soon I am going to have me latest creation ready to go, as it is currently bubbling away on a 1.063 India Red Ale. It is nottingham and pacman working together to eat every fermentable in it's path.

For some reason I get a kick out of trying different strains together, while also keeping samples of each strain independantly. Maybe I am an idiot, but my beer tastes good.

I am looking to add to my collection, I think the yeasts that I have allow me to brew a variety of styles effectively, except belgian.

I would think that in the beginning one yeast strain would beat the other out, but over time you should get mutations whether they be good or bad...

Oh, and I've got US-05, S-04, Notty, Bell's Yeast Strain, and some Red-Star Montrachet.

2 jars of second generation Denny's Favorite and 2 jars of second generation bottle-cultured Pacman. Also have a vile of weinstephaner and a couple packets of notty.

Washed Pacman and some other washed liquid yeasts. I generally don't bother saving any of the dried strains.

I forgot to add that I also have 4 packets of notty, 1 packet of US-05 and 2 packets of coopers. I am not sure if I will ever use the coopers. Although they say it produces some nice fruity esters....maybe it would be nice in a kolshy type of brew.

One jar washed WLP028, vial of WLP575, and WLP300 in primary that needs washed.

Would love to get some Bell's yeast strain to make an Oberon clone for summer. Don't they use the same strain for all or most of their beers?

I've heard that they use Oberon as a large starter to make their yeast for all the rest of their beers. I doubt that they use the same yeast on their Winter White Ale though, I could be mistaken.

This is something that interests me! I've often wondered if combining yeast yielded interesting/great results. Currently I have some WPL400 and a some wyeast3068 in the fridge as well as some WPL080 which I have no intention of using again. Just not keen on the flavor profile I guess.

Anyone have any cool experiences combining yeasts?

I have washed jars of 1010, 1056, and an unknown british ale yeast strain. (Can't remember if I bought 1098 or one of the white labs strains). The wheat yeast was recently saved after its 3rd or 4th use and its still doing fine. I need to switch to smaller jars or stop saving yeast though, I'm already taking up too much of the fridge.

Man, SWMBO is starting to give me a hard time as well. Way to many odd little jars in the fridge!

Regardless, to answer the question about mixing yeasts, just for kicks a while back I pitched US-05 and S-04 into a beer...it turned out great and has been basically my house yeast since. However, nottingham and my cold basement are making some seriously good beer this winter.
