Hello folks,

I haven't brewed in quite some time. I am doing the Liberty Ale clone from the American Beer Clone book.

9 lbs 2 row
.5 lbs crystal 20
.5 lbs roasted barley

cascades 60 min
cascades 30min
dascades dry hop
45-50 ibus total

Recipe calls for 1065 or equivalent....I got S-05 for convenience because there was no time for a starter. But now I'm thinking I want to try something different. I'm brewing tomorrow. So, I'm thinking about just buying two smack packs of a strain/strains I haven't used before.

The recipe calls this beer a mix between and esb and an ipa. Any suggestions on a strain? Nothing to radical, but something different than the typical american ale strain? Maybe a blend of two strains?

Thank you all

You could try out US-04? It brews with more fruitiness compared to US-05. I'm drawing a blank on a good Wyeast. Look on their site maybe and check out all the different strains, shouldn't be too hard to mix it up a bit.
