I harvested a few viles of WLP001 off a pale ale I did about 6 months ago, so they've been in the fridge for about half a year... Just for fun, I whipped up a 2L starter and pitched all three vials. Took about 24 hours to see activity and it's active but not going super crazy, at least yet. It's on a stir plate and in a warmer environment. Is it worth it to give this yeast a try? Should I step it up and do another starter after this one is finished? I know it's a measly 7 bucks for a new vial of WLP001, but it's not really about the money, more about just seeing how this 6 month old yeast could work in a new brew.

Older yeast takes a little coaxing. I would step it up. I bet activity will increase on the second step.
