Made a 1L starter for a 10gal batch of black ipa. Split the wort into 5gal buckets. "Eyeballed" 50% of starter into each bucket. 24hrs later one bucket bubbling away, other bucket nothing. Pop the lid a see what's going on? Give it a gentle stir? Move to warmer area? Any ideas/suggestions/opinions welcome. Yeast was from an American Ale II and a packet of US-05

How did you transfer the wort to your 5g buckets? Did one receive more O2 possibly than the other when making the transfer? (siphon vs. pouring) Did you shake up your yeast starter prior to pitching to distribute the yeast cells throughout the starter? Just a couple things to consider. It shouldn't hurt to give it a stir to try and introduce more O2 this early on.

Used bottled O2 in both buckets. Just popped lid it has a krausen so I guess all is ok just not a active as other bucket.

Possibly more yeast cells were introduced into one bucket vs the other. Sounds like you will be fine though. Cheers!
