My buddy and I brewed NB's Caribou Slobber extract kit yesterday. We made a yeast starter with rehydrated dry yeast the night prior to brew day. I had to skip out a bit early, and he forgot to grab a sample for the hydrometer, so we don't have an OG.

I thought that a starter was always recommended , but I just read where it's actually not recommended for dry yeast. How do you think this will effect the beer?

Making the starter did not hurt anything but also did not help anything. Your Caribou Slobber will more than likely turn out just fine.

You may have over pitched, but really I have had good results when overpitching. As long as you make beer, and you like it, that is all that really matters.

Thanks for the info all! Thanks for the link, Quad. There are some good, reassuring stories there.
