Just made my first yeast starter last night. Went well. 1L starter with wlp300 for a 4 gallon batch. This morning it had a small foamy krausen probably a 3mm thick.

When I used "mr malty" and other yeast calculators it says I need a 2L starter and a stir plate. My yeast is almost a month away from its expiration date so that's the reason it says that I won't have enough cells. If this information is really that accurate, can i reinforce or completely switch the starter with dry fermentis Hefeweizen yeast, that's all I have access to?
The yeast starter will have been sitting for 24 hours when I pitch it

Pitch it, you'll be fine and make great beer.

Make sure you have your Mr Malty setting on Intermittent Shaking

thanks guys!! about to pitch right now ;)

it had a pretty good krausen so i think i am safe!

You're good- an underpitch is not nearly as big of a deal on a hefeweizen, it can even up the yeast flavor in some situations.
