This is after about 20 hours... There is really not much going on. I put 3/4 cup LME and 1000ml of water. Boil for 15 min. Cooled to 75. And then pitched white labs British ale yeast.
It's probably fine. Sometimes starter fermentation happens so fast you miss it or don't see much evidence. Was it old yeast? If not then you're probably fine.

If it's not on a stirplate, swirl it up every chance you get. Also make sure the foil is not too tight or sealing the flask. The yeast need oxygen for the growth phase. Just cap it loosely with the foil. And keep it at room temperature. Sometimes they just take awhile to show any activity.
