Ok, this is a shot of our airlock after 5 days of fermentation at 65º.

Could someone please let me know what the hell this is all about? It doesn't look good to me, but then I'm a newb, so what do I know?? :cross:

I just want to make sure things are ok...or if emergency action needs to be taken (like racking to secondary or something along those lines)

Looks like an active fermentation where a bit of krausen made its way into the airlock. I'd bet if you look in the bucket there's remnants of krausen all over the sides and lid :D

You could leave it be or pull it and clean it then refill it with sanitized water and put it back.

Normal fermentation, although next time you might want to use a blowoff tube until fermentation subsides or you risk a mess a lot worse than a sticky airlock.

It does mean an active fermentation so all things considered it's a good thing.

I used to see this all the time until I started using blowoff hose instead of air lock. (Well actually I attached a 1/2" hose onto my airlock and lead that hose into a bucket with sanitized water).

Then you dont have to worry about cleaning up a mess after your airlock got clogged and cause your fermenter lid to blow off and make a mess in your kitchen closet (only happend once).

Its definitely one of those things...
