I'm brewing an IPA this weekend, and I was thinking about using Wyeast 1056. Is this an adequate yeast?

In case you are wondering, I am doing a partial mash, and the O.G. should be right around 1.060.

That's a great yeast for an American ipa. If you don't care to make a starter, you can use safale US-05, which I'd the same strain in dry form and will give you many more cells than a liquid pack with no starter

yeah...1056 is great for an ipa. don't forget to make a starter...
