This link is AWESOME!

Apologies if it's been posted already, but I couldn't find it.

Unfortunately, I just drank my last Paulaner Hefe (and rinsed the bottle for re-use) - wish I would've tried culturing from the sediment! I do have a Hoegaarden in the fridge - perhaps I'll try a culture with that one.

Please chime in with personal experiences regarding this method of obtaining yeast!

I cultured a strain from Avery White Rascal belgian white, which I used for my Wit, the brewmaster told me it is actually the Hoegaarden (sp?) strain.

Buddy of mine isolated a strain from a pitcher at a local brewpub, I used it in my last IPA and it hit 85% attenutation, going to use it for my next one too.

nice. hoegaarden sounds great, too. i just helped a friend make a hoegaarden clone, not quite done yet. if it turns out good, we should try it again after i grab some of that yeast.
