So I was able to score 25 glass skull bottles from Halloween, and as far as I can measure the bottle neck is around 3cm/30mm, while the taper at the largest is about 4.2c. I found some tapered 33mm corks, so my question is would I be able to soak and insert them, or do I need to carve them down for a better fit?

If you have access to a corker, I believe that you would have no issue getting the corks in.

If you are forcing it in by hand, I might slightly taper one end to aid in getting it started. One caution I would make is that once the cork is in, leave the bottle standing upright for a few days as a moist cork can have a tendency to start backing out as you have compressed some air in the bottle when the cork was forced in. You don't want a cork to back out and spill your drink.

After a week or so, I wouldn't be worried about the cork moving.

Cool, thanks! I'm getting a floor corker, so it shouldn't be a big issue. And they'll definitely be stored upright because, skulls lol.
