Wrong Post Placement?

Hi brewers,

I've never kegged before and I think I may have made a rookie mistake. Below are some pictures I have of my setup.
I think I accidently placed the posts in the wrong ports. I noticed this when I couldn't get the draft line on the 'out' post, which I think I accidently connected the 'in' post onto.

Any thought?

Also, the keg is full and it is still carbonated. Is there any saving this?

Just depressurize the keg (pressure relief valve on top), unscrew the posts and replace correctly.

I am guessing that the gas is now on the dip tube?

Yes, the posts are swapped, and I'd say it's a total crap shoot which side the long dip tube is on
Depressurize, pull the posts and dip tubes, sanitized them and put them back in the right places...

I have the same type posts also. I drew up a small diagram on the wall, where I do my disassembly / cleaning. That way I don't get them on the wrong side of the keg. If I recall, I made up a little saying that ended with "Flat Out". I even drew a profile diagram of the posts. They are slightly different and you can see this when they are side by side. As long as you dip tube is on the OUT port. I would just release the pressure, swap the posts, and re-pressurize.

I have ball lock kegs, so I'm not sure if your kegs are the same color, soooo...

I remember that Beer comes out the Black port and Gas goes in the Gray port. I also put a tiny B on one side of the cooler lid and a Gn the other to remember which is which, when the keg is oriented with the PRV facing the front of the kegerator. I still look every time i reach in to swap kegs around.

Hmm. Interesting. Looks like I’ll need to just disassemble/reassemble.

Any thoughts on how much quality of the beer I’ll lose while I’ll need to do this?

You shouldn't lose any quality. Oxidation is the only worry. Very small in this case but to keep it at a minimum work fast and don't agitate the beer.
