So after my first attempt with a disappointing efficiency of just over 53% I got myself a mill and set it at credit card width and milled my second brew for a whopping 86.49%.

It milled it with a cordless drill and it took 2 minutes to do 2 hoppers for a total of 5.35 Kilos. It was almost powder.

I am so happy as I was really disappointed with my first brew which has actually turned out to be a really nice pint.

Wow 86.49 %, with some practice maybe you can bring that up to 87.13%

Kidding aside, with a decent crush 80+ efficiency should be easily attained for normal gravity beers. High gravity horse of a different color :)

Yup. My experience as well. Use Monster Mill 2 roller with gap at .018. I run it through twice but I think the 2nd time is complete superstition but I can't let it go LOL.

My first home milled beer was Yoopers Anchor Steam. Normally a 5.5% beer. Imagine my surprise with a jump in efficiency from 78 to over 90 and producing 7% beer. Does'nt quite taste the same, but never let good beer go to waste so i didnt! Still have'nt hooked up a drill yet, still hand cranking the cereal killer.
