I got a brand new set of universal poppets to use with my pin lock cornies. But on one corny the poppet's spring appears to be creating not enough resistance to open up the valve on quick disconnect. When I push down with my hand on the QD, it appears to open up.

Have any one had this issue?

Not all 'universal' poppers are created equally. Mostly they are made to fit ball lock posts but can fit in some types of pin lock posts with a little care.

Left is a Cornelius pin lock poppet. Center and right are 'universal' poppets.
The spring in the center is quite stiff. The right is longer but much softer.
Also, notice the poppet themselves are not equal, they both seal the post, but the center one sticks up a bit(no big deal). And, the orings are not the same, again, both will seal if put together with care.
Caveat- the center spring will not fit Firestone brand pin lock post(the ones where the thread matches ball lock posts. The posts for these kegs are taller and the spring isn't long enough to seal.

Thanks, it is good to know, I has no idea about thous differences. I don't know how to identify a Firestone pin-lock and have no idea which one I have. Though, I have poppets that look exactly as the one on the right. Also, it appears that I have no sealing issues: as of now two kegs are naturally carbing. Though, the problem comes when I am trying to connect gas to the keg. It looks like the poppet does not have enough resistance to open up the valve in the quick disconnect.

in another thread i learned i had to snip a ring off to get it to work. so far it's done the trick for me. for me it was the bev line though, couldn't get the ball lock to attach, and when i did had slow pours. but when i snipped a ring of the poppet, everything works as should....

Well, for me it is likely should be the opposite, I may need to snip a ring off the spring in the quick disconnect.

Alright, so the problem was self-resolved by ordering extra set of poppets. The original poppets were purchased at amazon.ca at $15 for 5 pieces. The poppets had spring of about 0.87 mm in diameter and the load provided by the spring was not sufficient to load the QD's spring and open the valve. The problem was solved by purchasing another set of poppets from aliexpress.com at $7.70 for 8 pieces. The ones that arrived from China have the spring's diameter of about 1.13 mm and feel much stiffer. Since return window was still open, amazon's poppets were successfully returned to the seller.
