I've built my brew stand and went on the cheap for burners. I've used it a few times and found it takes forever to boil and the flame is very dirty... soot all over the bottom of the kettle.

Here's what I'm using:

It comes with a adjustable 10 PSI regulator. Would a higher PSI regulator give me a better flame or should I just scrap these and buy a Banjo Burner?

the flame shouldn't be dirty no matter the regulator. You need more O2 for the flame, adjust the plate on the burner to let in more air. Once you get that dialed in and if it's still not working, then upgrade.

Not sure for your burner, but i use a 40psi to run two banjo burners. A bit overkill of course, but so is everything we do here on HBT : )

What kind of burner element does it have? If it's a BG-10 style, they tend to soot pretty bad. BG-12s and BG-14s are much cleaner burning.

outside92129, so how do you determine the regulator size needed? If I was to replace these three POS burners with 3 Banjo Burners and use 1 regulator, what size regulator would I use?
