Wort wicking up material and over side of cookpot

I've done a couple of countertop BIAB mashes now and both times the wort wicked up the material and dripped out over the side onto the hob. At first I thought it was that the mash size was too big but the second one was down a bit from the edge and it still wicked over the edge and continued to drip onto my hob throughout the mash and I lost prob 5 or 10% of the mash. Has anyone experienced this and what can I do about it?

A polyester voile bag will likely not wick like you are experiencing.

I agree with wilser. I have no wicking with a polyester voile bag. I suspect it's due to a cotton/muslin bag.
