I am a newbie... Yes it's true we all started somewhere and somewhen!
My question is at the end of my brew I messed up and did not check the wort after chilling in the sink for 15 minutes. I got all excited and forgot to check. I then poured in my yeast. I thought about it after I was done and started freaking out .... So mad at myself for messing up all my work I just did. I went over and over in my head about what to do next. How do I fix this? The problem was that the yeast was liquid and not powder so it went right to the bottom of the bucket where it was the hottest. Man was I upset ;( I could not sleep. All night I kept getting up every hour on the hour and checking to see if there was any bubbles in the air lock! 1:00am ... Nope 2:30am (ok not every hour on the hour)... check and nope! 5:30 am alarm clock went off and I did not even hit SNOOZE!!!! I got up ran to my office and ... No bubbles;( man I felt bad about my screw up.
So I told myself that I was going to go get some more yeast after work and pitch it when I get home... And there is my question, I will ask it later.
So upset at myself for the waisted effort and beer. I could not get my mind off my dead little soldiers at the bottom of my bucket! So sad and cold and DEAD!
I called my wife from work and asked her to go check the airlock one more time... And she said that she thinks there was one bubble!!!! Holy mackerel Jackson could it actually be true! Be still my heart! I called her again after a couple meetings and sure enough it was more active, there were more and more bubbles she said after each and every phone call
I did not go get more yeast after work, but instead flew home and sprung into my office and bigger than life it was just bubbling like crazy! I have never been so happy to see bubbles. Ok well there was that one time in the tub when I was 9 and .... Ok I digress, back to the story and a question if anyone is still reading after all this
QUESTIONS
The questions are, could I have bought more yeast and poured it in the next day if I had actually killed the yeast with too hot of wort?
And if yes, then would it change the outcome? Can you actually put in too much yeast or too little or too late.... Wow too many questions.
