Hello all:

I brewed a Belgian Tripel from a kit in June. I did a primary fermentation in a 6 gallon glass carboy. It was a beautiful light cloudy color. After a month I transferred to a 5 gallon carboy for secondary fermentation. Now it has turned black after 3 weeks. It still smells fine, but I'm a little concerned. Any words of wisdom?

Someone poured ink into your carboy!

I can't think of anything that would make the beer turn dark.
Give it a smell and if you don't gag, give it a taste. If it still doesn't make you gag, proceed.

It didn't turn black. What happened is the yeast flocculated out. The yeast make it look lighter than it actually is. And then the volume of liquid makes it look darker than it actually is. 90% sure once you look at it in a glass or hydrometer tube it'll be close enough to the color you want.
