Hi all

I've got wlp060 in the fridge for some time and thought I would brew american robust porter. Any thoughts on that? Any experience with that particular strain of yeast? I am fairly satisfied with 001, malty and hoppy, good balance, everything. The white labs say wlp060 taste more lager like. Since I am not a big fan of lagers, I don't know what that means? Can someone explain?

Cheers

I used 060 once because our shop was out of 001. I ended up really liking it and have used it several times since. It's not too lager like; it just produces a really nice, clean beer.

So should I expect something similar to 001 with just a touch of 051 and anchor lager strain? I am planning to brew an American porter. What do you think how 060 will perform?

Yeah I’d expect it to be primarily like 001, but maybe just a touch cleaner (if that is even possible lol). I’ve used it in hoppy beers, ambers (where I liked it most), and stouts, so it’s still a really versatile blend. I’m sure it’ll perform well for u!

It's really clean, but if you want a hoppy beer you may want to add just a bit more hops than you would using 001.
