Wiring for a toggle switch

I am building a stir plate, and I am following from the byo article. I have a three prong toggle switch and a potentiometer that has a speed control button. I am not sure on the wiring for the toggle since the three prongs has one for power and one for ground. But when I am supposed to take the one listed on the ground to the potentiometer but on power the instructions say. I am not an electrician so I am not sure on what to do. I am attaching a photo of the back of the toggle switch.
