winter banana

Is "winter banana" a decent cider apple? I have an old growth tree on my property that's half dead w/ another young tree about 6" in diameter growing next to it.They both produce apples bi-anually, I'm a beer brewer but if this variety makes a decent cider I was thinking about pressing them.There are shoots growing all over the root stock.If this is a variety that you want to graft please feel free to P.M. me

do you mean it's biennial, ie fruits every 2 years? or else you are suggesting it flowers and fruits twice in a year which sounds unlikely at best. shoots growing from the root stock are going to be rootstock genotype. i've never heard of the variety, taste them to gauge the sharpness (acidity) and bitterness (tannin) level, and get a drop of juice and check on a refractometer. if they are just sweet then maybe not great for a single variety cider, but you can always use them in a blend.
