Nope, unless some freak accident happens that may add the possibility of glass shards in the wine (I now have some), filtering is completely unnecessary.
I have made several wines, and have never had to filter them. You just need to be very patient with wines. If you are using isinglass, that will probably help.
One thing I learned about wine is to age in bulk in a carboy, rather than bottling right away. After time in the secondary, I rack off to a clean carboy, top off, and let it sit down in the basement. Out of sight, out of mind. After 6 to 9 months I will bottle. If you check on it a couple of months in and see some residue on the bottom of the carboy, you can re-rack to a clean carboy and let it continue to sit. Eventually it will get nice and clear.
