Is Willamette a decent hop for Amber Ale? I know it isn't a direct replacement for Amarillo...thought about just adding another Cascade or Centennial hop @ 5min.

Thoughts?

Fermentables:
7.0 Pale
2.5 Munich
1.0 lb 40L
1.0 lb 10L
0.25 lb Choc 450

0.25oz Magnum @ 60
1.30oz Cascade @ 15
0.50oz Centennial @ 15
1.00oz Willamette @ 5min

Wyeast 1056

It's superb in an amber ale (IMO) and goes well with Centennial and Cascade.
Big +1

Citrus hops are characteristic for the American Amber Ale, but I think Willamette does a good job by itself too, for my taste. Willamette plus Cascade is great too. I'm not sure I've had them with Centennial.
Recipe looks good, assuming you want it pretty hoppy!

I was going to brew an arrogant bastard clone but instead did an Amber ale partial mash using less Chinook hops and homegrown Willamette in the whirlpool. Sample after boil good, waiting to bottle next week and see how it tastes.

I buy Willamette in bulk because its versatility. It goes with most brews. Haha, the smash ipas are a little peculiar, but an oz here or there it really goes well with most and would be fine in your amber as others have reported.

While it would be great in an amber ale I would not describe it as a good replacement for amarillo. It doesn't have much of an orange character to it.
