Being used to shut off heating element on a 220v setup.I bought it already and can return it if it doesn't work. I was in Radio shack and grabbed it as an after thought

Edit I cant copy link for same reason. Its radio shack part # 275-0028 If you care to look it up,sorry

If you are using the switch as the only disconnect, remember that a single pole switch will interrupt the current through the element but WILL NOT remove all voltage from the element. There will still be 120V between the uninterrupted HOT leg and ground.

Switches are rated for interrupt amperage. As long as your element is not firing at the time of disconnect, your fine. That being said, if you do disconnect while firing it'll prolly melt.

This switch is not safe to use if your element is 4500Watt or higher. It can be overheated and melt. Use at least 20Amp rated switch for 4500Watt element and 25Amp rated switch for 5500Watt element.

Thanks for all the help. Its 5500 watt,I don't need a meltdown Ill pick up the one at home depot. The LED looked kinda cool but Im really not that concerned. As long as its safe.

I Have an Estop.

If you use one of these you can use any switch you want and have the added safety of ALL the power being removed from the element when its off.... they are very easy to wire up.... the switch wiring goes to one of the coil power inputs and by turning the coil on and off you turn on the larger power relay switch inside and can turn on(or off) both legs of power at the same time... I just bought these for another panel I'm building for a friend.they are only $10 with free shipping...
