Today was brew day and i was sealing the air lock. I accidentally pushed the rubber stopper through the lid into the bucket of wort. So, to retrieve the rubber stopper from the bottom of the wort i washed my whole arm with antibacterial soap and thoroughly rinsed then i made the plunge into the wort. Then I resumed the process. Will my washed arm cause infections or any other problems???????

good answer. well its done now. i made a bad decision. do yall foresee any problem for this stupid decision

Haha, its always a possibility.... But you wont know until its done... I'm pretty sure many people on this forum have done similar things and come out with a perfectly fine end product though.

now that it has been done and hindsight is 20/20. (p.s. starsan would have been better than soap) it will most likely be drinkable and won't have a problem. there will be stories of people brewing for thousands of years without a thought of sanitation. next time, have extra grommets and bungs on hand. if they were sanitized, leave them in the bucket.

your beer will probably be fine, but the bad beer karma you created will make the tigers to lose the title game!!! May the war eagle crap in your next batch!

Just kidding.:cross:

next time, airlock into lid, lid onto bucket. THere is a sticky at the top of this forum about the abuse some beer goes through and still tastes good. There are also related threads at the bottom of this thread that might put your mind at ease.

(you might want to do a search on blow off tubes in case your fermentation gets real vigorous).
