Heya, I've got my first batch in my fermentation bin and have been keeping an eye on it for a while now ( About 3-4 days) and I was temped to open it and see how things are going in there after reading that a lot of people do that.

I noticed something wiers though that worries, some wierd green gunk that stands out from the beer and the foam ( Check picture)

P.S. The Malt Extract I used is called Diabolos and I added some Northern Brewerer hops in just out of curiousity after hearing some giod things about both from a friend that brews beer at home.

Please tell me its just yeast and that I didn't mess up my first batch :S

Thanks guys, my heart can move back in its original place now lol. Also one last thing, the airlock and the bin have been sweating but I didn't see any bubbling going on in the airlock as many say. Does the bubbling happen only when you habe large batches cause mine is 9 litres in a 23 litres bin.

The airlock bubbles when you have positive pressure created by CO2 production and a good seal on your fermenter so that the only escape route for the CO2 is out the airlock. A bubbling airlock is nice to see, but it's not necessary. The nice krausen of yeast on top of your brew is what you want to see. That's active fermentation right there.
