Racked from a 6 gal carboy down to a 5 gal about a month ago during aging and had 2 750ml bottles left over. Drank one then and saved this one, now has white sediment on the bottom. What is it? Is this bottle still good? Can this mean that the 5gal carboy is bad? Note I added sulfites to the carboy but not this bottle.

Your bottle should be fine to drink. Things will settle for months, even when you think it’s already clear. If you haven’t degassed it, things will be suspended from micro bubbles. Ive ready about not bottling until it’s degassed. If you degas it manually, let it sit for a while longer to let more settling to occur. Or it’s letting it bulk age for 6 months or more.
