White Rust

I cut open a keg that had some rain water in it The sanke valve was damaged and it filled with water. Long story short its got some white rust in it. Im assuming some kind of beer stone type calcium build up. Ive taken SS scouring pads http://www.webstaurantstore.com/stainless-steel-heavy-weight-scouring-pads-12-pk/579300.html but all im doing is taking off the surface rust. Muriatic should work....be careful and use PPE....

Safer lower tech way if it's not too much stone - Barkeepers Friend and a lot of elbow grease or if you have a grinder with a buffing pad & BKF, perhaps a simpler method. I soaked mine with Oxyclean and then beer line cleaner, but eventually I just went at it with BKF.
