White Labs in San Diego recently opened up their tasting room and just expanded their hours. I was in the area and popped in for a flight and a tour, i definitely recommend if you're in San Diego. They brew 20gal twice a day and split the wort into 5gal fermentors, each with a different strain. Tastes are $1.25, there's no discount for a flight of 4 ($5). They also had some finger foods out to cleanse the palate and/or slow absorption. The tour isn't anything to write home about, but you get to pick the brain of the engineer/scientists showing you around.

At the bar the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about their strains, they're not just bartenders and can give advice on what strains to use.

Interesting trivia learned: The vials of yeast that we've been buying are semi-processed soft drink bottles. They're the partially expanded slugs of plastic, but not fully blown into the bottle form. Similar to this:

Very cool--thanks for the heads up! :mug:

(As if San Diego needed another beer-destination in the area!)

Wow, couldn't imagine a better way to learn about yeast and its effect on your beer. Have to make it over there soon! thx for the heads up.
