Wondering the best spot as far as height and placement from the spigot this should be mounted on a keggle?

just my 2 cents, but i think you should mount it about 6 in from the bottom of the keggle if heat will be an issue. i've read that's the mounting height for some thermometers. also, you won't want it right in the way of stirring if it has a long stem. the coupler for mine is about 6 in above the bulkhead and that seems to work well... on the other hand, i've seen a lot of them mounted about 2-3 inches above the bulkhead, which might work even better. i think either way, you'll be OK.

Thermometers in any vessel are almost useless unless stirred well or continuously mixed just before reading the temperature. Heat tends to rise in a pot but the heat is not the same in any one spot unless thoroughly mixed.
