I brewed a Pseudo Sue clone recipe but for some reason the color turned out much darker than anticipated. So now I have a delicious citra pale ale that’s outside the SRM guidelines for 18B American Pale Ale. My guess is that it’s in the 13 SRM range. Should I submit it as an Amber Ale instead? Both?

Here are two pics of the same glass in different lights. It was pretty light orange during fermentation/dry hopping but I fined it with gelatin and it came out darker.

I'd submit it in both categories.

What does it "feel" like?

Where is it likely to be deducted less points? Will it be deducted less points as an APA (deducted for the color), or as an amber (deducted for other stuff than the color)?

Edit: Oh, after reading the reply above I forgot that you guys competing in the states can enter the same beer in different categories.

It's probably too hoppy for an amber and too dark for a pale ale. How that would equate to lost points is hard for me to say. I think everything else falls well within either style's guidelines.
