Looking to get WLP940 as my lhbs doesn't carry it and can't get it in time. Ive never ordered yeast online and im a bit nervous about it as I don't want the yeast to get damaged im shipping. Where do you get yours when you order online? Im in the Chicago area.

I've used morebeer and northernbrewer with good results . Like WBB mentioned, dont skimp on the ice pack.

You really should have looked for the online seller closest to you given current state of affairs. MB warehouses are on the coasts. Pretty sure northern / Midwest are closer. Ritebrew too. Great ferms too?

MB is usually solid, but under self isolation and not running full speed. Took 4 days to get my parts last week. Less than 20 miles from warehouse.

Dude, Farmhouse Brewing supplies is in Janesville WI and I get my orders the next day. Don't know about now with the **** going on , but their like 60 or so miles from you. Once (no virus) I ordered at 3:30 am and had my yeast at 4:00 pm the same day!

Didn't even know about them! Thanks for the recommendation!

I really wanted the wlp940 but I looked and it appears that oyl113 is the same or very close. So I ordered through farmhouse brewing supply per the above recommendation and canceled the morebeer order.

I agree with you. The distance is why I was worried in the first place.

Cool. Make yourself a nice healthy starter the night before you brew. Oxygenate your wort. Pitch and hold around 52-53 and after you reach 60% attenuation let it free rise until finish. Sometimes mine gets up to 59-60 ish. Super clean.

Two row, 10-20% vienna, and some carafoam/pils/chit. Magnum or herkules to bitter. Tettnang dry hopped like crazy is my fave, maybe some hallertau. Styrians are also good, although hard to keep track of all the new denominations. Avoid Saaz. And pils. it’s not the right profile.

Keep it under 6% and you’re good to go, I shoot for 5.5 or so. If you don’t wanna go big on hops then keep it at 5% or less. But these specs and a big hop presence give you something that tastes like beer and goes down like water.

The starter will be a 2 step starter actually, for 15 gallons finished volume

I was actually going to do all Vienna and a little flaked corn to lighten it up a bit. Tettnang for bittering and late additions of motueka.

Trying to recreate the Mexican lager done by city lights brewing in Milwaukee.

Got it. Clone recipe. I just assumed it was a traditional chela recipe.
