I'm tired of using thermometers with poor accuracy, and since I'm looking at starting AG brewing I need to get a good thermometer that i can monitor from the outside of my tun. Please let me know where I can find a decent one that won't hurt my wallet.

Thanks!

I assume your talking about one with a remote probe. I don't have this one but I have other thermoworks products that I love and they have great customer support.

Check this one out:

I'm curious how you are going to use it. If installed through a bulkhead off the side most should work well, but if you are going to put it through the top where the part of the metal meets the cable you might have issues with moisture getting into the probe. You can bake it in the oven to dry it out if that is the case.

I personally use http://amzn.to/m0Y7Lm but I just open up my tun and check every once in a while. This is a great thermometer, not as good as the thermapen but its a third of the price and from the same great company

For local pickup:
I've used a couple from walmart and target; both have worked great. One was a thermo with probe the other was digital stick thermo. I believe around $15-25 range. I've seen higher priced probe thermo's locally at places like Bed Bath and Beyond.

For online ordering:
Check out any of them on amazon; alot of brewers leave comments on the items so search through them till you find one that you prefer

I just bought a Fluke 50D thermocouple thermometer on ebay. These are serious thermoeters with great accuracy, plus you can by any type of thermocouple that fits your needs. New they are around ~$250. I got sick of always wondering if the cheap wal mart ones were right.

That looks pretty nice. Might have to upgrade

Amazon has a ton of them. Also Google has a large selection. I have one with a probe and a remote sensor. Works great.

I have been using http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0021AEAG2/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 for a while now and have had great success with it. It reads quickly and accurately for a great price.

Chromados

+1 The CDN thermometer is a good choice. It reads fast. It's rugged and reliable. I've dropped mine into hot water more than once and it survived without a scratch. It has a calibration feature too, but I've never found it necessary to do so. The price is right too, which is always nice to see.
