When is the brewing community going to get one of these?

A lot of brewers use automation to a certain extent. If someone gave me one of these I would certainly give it a try, but I wouldn't stop brewing with my normal setup.

Anyone who thinks this is brewing beer is just not a brewer. Nuts

While their whole "brewing is tedious" schtick might be a bit overstated, how is this device not brewing beer? Seems to me it's just another brewing tool--and apparently a precise and repeatable one.

Your final product is still going to be beer, it may just be a question of quality. There is another thread debating the merits of this system, though I do not have a link to it at the moment.

Is it just me,or does that picobrew only make a 1 gallon batch? Seems like it'd be expensive for that lil bit of beer. Might be dead on for temps & such though.

Cool idea. I wonder how loud it is. My wife would kill me if something like that woke her up at 5:30am so I could have fresh coffee by 6am.

You can call the picobrew whatever you want but i am sure the breweries are not keen on it gaining traction!

Given what goes into the malting process - would it be possible to automate the process or are there steps along the way that require human judgment?

Brewing a cup of coffee from beans you just roasted is going to produce a pretty lousy cup of coffee. In my experience, it takes about 4 days after roasting for the beans to hit their best flavor.
