I am a complete novice and am in the process of making my first beer kit. I have done the first fermentation and now have syphoned into the pressurised barrel, it has been in the barrel since sat 26/5/2012.
My question is when do I use the CO2 gas attached to the top of the cap?

thank you.
Mike

I am a novice too been homebrewing a few months.
What i do is add the priming sugar to the barrel and 1 co2' bulb, this is what my hbs told me to do.
I mostly bottle now until i get some corney kegs. but i have 2 barrels and when i made my first ever brew i did it like above and it worked well.
Although it could have used more carbonation as i use roto kegs and i put coopers larger in there and theses barrels don't take well to high pressure, I found that the s30 valve would let the excess pressure out. As to why i now bottle.
