Hey you guys...

Whenever you get done arguing amongst yourselves???

There's a whole slew of n00bs out here wanting to know if their yeast is dead...if they should use bottled water...where they can secure a keggle...how can they up the alcohol...why their fermentation has stalled at 1.035 after 4 hours and of course my favorite...can I brew indoors? I'll take that one...

Now get out here and let's help some homebrew n00b-b00bs.

By the way, can I use the stove to brew on using an alum pot to brew indoors, or will it kill the yeast, using plastic bottled water, that I use to give to my dogs and cats, that share the same room as the beer fermenting in a plastic water bottle that I got for free, but all I had to do was to clean out the acid residue and all the millions of scratches on the inside of the plastic bottle using bleach and a toilet brush.

While brewing though, I spilled 2 single hop pellets, will the beer still come out OK?

I have never quite understood the infatuation with telling people to search. I mean what is the big deal? The energy you spent typing out use the search, could of been spent answering the persons question...

I'm guilty of telling them to search. However, I rarely just say, "Learn to use the search function!" I try to give some instructions on how to more effectively search, and I'll often post a link or two. I'd certainly like to have known a few tips and tricks to maximize search results when I was new here. Teach a man to fish...

Okay now...seeing the thread that I was involved in yesterday was mentioned here, I will explain why I did what I did.

That guy asked a simple apfelwein question that has been beaten to death on this forum. His initial post even stated that he knew apfelwein was a popular thing to brew and had obviously read about it. I told him we didn't need another thread on the same damn topic. The same topic that comes up at least once a week.

Edwort has gone to great lengths to make the VERY FIRST POST in the 1200 page apfelwein thread almost a FAQ of sorts. Everything you ever want to know about apfelwein is right friggin' there. Anyone, ANYONE who takes 3 seconds to search apfelwein can't possibly be dumb enough to miss that thread.

Especially in this case, where the guy who started that thread knew it was so damn popular. I pounced on him because he got an attitude back at me.

I think anyone who has a problem with me telling some n00b to use the search, needs to see some other forums out there where you can get your lunch money beaten out of you in a nanosecond. Grow a pair and deal with it. Yes, this place is great, but I'm not going to coddle the n00bs because they are too lazy to search for apfelwein. I'm pretty lenient on most posts/threads, but when I have to hit someone with the dingbat stick over not searching for something so simple, it ticks me off. Over and over again.

Although I have never used that method, in lieu of this thread, I may start doing that. Instead of saying 'do a search', I think with the obvious questions, I may start answering their questions and then informing them that it could have been found using the search function. The constant barrage of repeated questions doesn't bother me, but it is clear that some other people, that have been on here much longer than I, get a little irritated that the work they are doing to organize is going un-noticed; or at least under utilized.
