I'll probably be brewing Monday as well. I was supposed to yesterday but a buddy asked if I wanted to go to a Norfolk Tides game. So I did that instead.

I'm brewing the Old Leghumper Porter in my sig. It is going to get racked on top of the Pub Ale (WLP005) yeastcake.

This porter is getting brewed for a buddy of mine who is in Iraq right now. A welcome home gift, if you will.

I can't think of a better gift. That is just awesome.

I guess a lot of you folks will be at the World Beer Festival this weekend. Wish I could make it but I hope you all have a great time! :rockin:

By the way, I just had to pour another IHA this evening and OMG! This beer is getting good. The malt profile is shining through now and the whisky notes are fading. I need to let it age until 06-06-06 but I'm not sure it will make it!:mug:
EDIT: You should see the brussels lace that goes all the way down the glass.:D :rockin:

im brewing a bitter and a draught as i hav 2 fermenters and im in oz so i am not sure of the game i gather u went to see as for me in oz i am rugby league and support the st george illawarra dragons (NRL)

I thought I had enough beer for this party in three weeks but we now have 60 friggen people coming and a live band :rockin: .

So now I need to brew more:

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Clone

Won't be ready in time but I need some in the wings when everyone leaves.

I'm doing a double batch of chasin' the tail ale in the new brew pot. First time I'm doing a double outside. Should be good! :mug:

It's Golden Week here in Japan (Week long holiday!). I plan on doing a low alcohol pale ale, a regular pale ale (mirror pondish) and maybe an IPA. But I don't know if there will be enough time. I've also gotta bottle my burboun porter and play with my RI Stout.

I just finished brewing an ESB. It's the first time I've tried this style, though I like drinking it quite a bit.

Here's the recipe:

8 lbs. Pale ME liquid
1 lb. 75* L crystal
.25 120* L crystal
.25 150* L crystal
1 oz Target (60 min boil)
.5 oz Challenger (20 min)
1 oz Kent Golding (steep)
WLP002 English ALe yeast

That's the most specialty grain, and the most hop quantity, I've ever used in a batch. It was really fun to brew and I'm excited to see the results.

My fiancee and I have begun sampling the Apricot Cream ALe in earnest this weekend, too. It's been in the bottle 3 weeks now and tastes like a dream. :) I still have no idea what I'm doing, when it comes to brewing, but I lucked out on that batch. We love it.

Good luck, everbody. May your brews turn out lovely.

I just finished a Amarillo Pale Ale. My second grain brew and it has a short hop addition schedule. I hope it turns out as good as the brewer stated it will. I never have used Amarillos so this is a new one for me.

saturday i brewed another heffe and dropped it atop the weisntephen yeast.

sunday i brewed a white beer and dropped it atop the belgian white yeast cake.

i'll have fifteen gallons of wheat beer for this summer in a few weeks :mug:

I did a Nut Brown I got from Northern Brewers

1/4 lb Simpson's Chocolate
1/4 lb Dngeman's Special B
1/4 lb Dingeman's Biscuit
1/4 Briess Special Roast

6lbs Gold Malt LME

1 oz Challenger 60 min
1 oz Fuggle 1 min

Wyeast 1028

I brewed a bit early (Thursday) and let my brother-in-law help. I finally made up that Rootbeer Porter I had been thinking about and everything went pretty well. I did miss my gravity by about 10points but I think that was due to letting my brother-in-law sparge for me and he sparged a hell of a lot faster then I do (30 minutes vs my usualy 90 minutes)

I'll keep ya updated on progress right now all I can say is my spare bathroom smells like rootbeer paradise.

I'll actually be brewing my brown ale Monday. Maybe bottle my ESB Saturday.

I'm brewing tomorrow as well, although I haven't quite decided what just yet. Probably going to do a second try at my Muckraker Stout,(first batch got spoiled), but I'm thinking about doing some sort of pale ale or something instead...

Sooooo...weekday brewers...you still on?

I'm half tempted to skip brewing today and do it tomorrow instead. Looks like a better day outside, and I'm really hurting. I get off work in 3 hours (@7:30 AM) and I doubt I'm going to be coherent enough to brew.

Tuesday is supposed to be in the 70s here and I can do it early. I have to do it early cause SWMBO made a date to maybe trade in the Liberty for a Saturn Ion. I must go along to make sure we don't get screwed. ;)

Maybe I'll prep some kegs and do some brewery maintenance today instead.

Maybe I'll go shop for a new mashtun. :rockin:

I brewed up a Dunkel Weissen this weekend.

7lb of Wheat DME
1/2lb Chocolate Malt
1/4lb German Munich
2oz Mt Hood (60min)
1oz Hallertau (15min)

Re-pitched WYeast Weinstephan Heffe.

It was in the mid seventies here and I have to work the rest of the week including the weekend:( so I went ahead and brewed today. It was a nice day with no mis-haps. I missed my target OG by 1 point. It came out at 1.060.
This was going to be called Windy Winter Brown for my recipe made last winter but I think I;m going to call it Barking Dog Brown for the Fookin dog next door that kept barking the whole time I was out there. I swear it sounded like he wanted to go through the fence and attack me.
Going to go pitch some yeast.:)
Good luck car shopping. I hate doing that. The Mash Tun sounds like much more fun.:rockin:

Sweet.

I'm still on to brew in the morning. I'll probably start later because it stays light so much later now. Some dude my wife works with is going to come over and learn the ropes. maybe even SwAMi's roomie to try out the new beers on tap. Should be fun. I'll be sure to snap some pics at some point.

This is goign to be Old Leghumper, a brown porter. I hope I can get close to the real thing for my buddy.

Pitching on a WLP005 slurry so I didn't even have to make a starter. :rockin:

This weekend was the beginning of moving into the new house, so no brewing happening at all. :( We've been loading stuff, buying more stuff, and unpacking all kinds of stuff I didn't even know we had. Looks like all the brewing stuff will be the last to make the move. I have to bottle all of beer in secondary before I move it, but I don't know when that will be. Plus the new garage/brewery seems to be warmer than I thought. I need to do some planning before any brewing goes on in there. I'm trying to check in with this board, but my free time is limited, even at work. If you guys don't hear from me for another couple days, it's because I'm buried under boxes. Brew up some for me while I'm figuring out how to put all this new furniture together.

For a treat after moving the other night I put a bottle of my barleywine and the imperial stout in the fridge. They are really good! :rockin: The barleywine was brewed Nov. 20, and the Imp. Stout Dec. 29 so they have had a few months to age. I'm still going to let them sit through the summer, but they should be incredible then. Can't wait! :D

Oh man...by next winter those will be wonderful!

Good luck on the move. I'll do my duty and keep producing while we have a piper down. Brewer's code and all. :p

I pitched a WLP002 slurry that was thicker than snot. It started chugging away in less than an hour. Now there are nice big chunks of yeast circulating around in the wort and I'm glad I installed a blow off tube. :rockin:

I love harvesting yeast for future batches. All I did on this one was to warm it up to room temp then pour off the beer before pitching. It sat in my fridge for about 3 weeks with no ill effects.
Like you said I didn't have to make a starter, it took off like a rocket, and it saved me over $6.00.

Thanks. Sometime between today and tomorrow the bedroom furniture is getting torn down and re-assembled. It's noon here at work and slow, so I'm leaving work to go and pack more stuff...

How on earth do the yeast manage to do their thing while whirling around in the wort like that? Never ceases to amaze me.
