What size wire for 120v ?

I want to make a simple boil kettle using a LWD 120v 2000w element. What size/kind of wire should I use ?

depending on the length of the run you may want to up size but 12 gauge should do everything you need it to (thats about 16 amps you are requiring there).

+1 on the 12 awg for a 2000w element. I got my 12-3 SJOOW cord at Lowe's by the foot. Since your draw is more than 15 amps, make sure you are running it on a 20 amp receptacle at the wall (GFCI preferred), 20 amp plug on the cord, 20 amp breaker in your breaker box with 12 gauge wire in the wall.
