What size carboy?

I live in an apartment and I can't boil the full volume required for a 5 gallon AG batch. I've done a couple of PM batches so far and I've enjoyed the process. I am interested in trying to make some 3 gallon AG batches. How big of a carboy do I need to allow enough head room for a 3 gallon batch?
