Hi,

I bought these malts by mistake and now I do not know what to brew with them. I also have 2 row pale ale and Maris Otter.

Could you please suggest recipies? I have safale s04 and s05 but I can buy other.

Thanks!

2 row and a crystal will yield you a pale ale depending on what hops you have.

something like an altbier?
10 lb 2-row
1 lb caramunich
.25 lb aroma
any noble hop to 35 IBU + an oz @ KO
s-05 @ 67ish won't be "authentic" but it'll still make a nice beer. 1007 fermented cool is a better choice.

Thanks for teh suggestions.

I just found someone in another thread who did this Imperial red Ale

Yeast = Safale US-05

35% - Maris Otter (3.0L)
35% - American 2-Row (1.8L)
12.5% - Weyermann Light Munich (7L)
10% - British 50/60 Medium Crystal (55L)
6.25% - Red Wheat Malt (2.5L)
1.25% - Weyermann CaraAroma (150L)

I dont have Munich, crystal 55 and red wheat, but I could put some crystal 120 and caramunich instead?

Yeast = Safale US-05

35% - Maris Otter (3.0L)
35% - American 2-Row (1.8L)
13% Caramunich
13% crystal 120
4% - CaraAroma (150L)

Thanks

I don't think you want to do that second recipe as is, you're looking at 30% cara/crystal malts there. Munich is a base malt and not really like caramunich, which is more of a medium crystal malt. So in that recipe I would make up the munich and wheat with base malt, then sub in your caramunich for the medium crystal. I guess you could bump the caraaroma a little but you might want to be cautious, I understand it can be pretty potent.

Thanks Chikipad!

I would go for the Altbier for now then as I want to use as much of the special malts I have to get rid of them.

Thanks everyone!
