No where else, I love the U.S. and would never live anywhere else. If things ever got to crazy I would just move to Alaska out in the middle of no where.

Kenya. If I could get a good job.

SWMBO and I just finished watching Nowhere in Africa, couldn't get over how beautiful the country was!

SWMBO and I MIGHT end up in Canada next year........she's applying to an ass load of universities to get her PHD...

TBH though, I'm not really sure if I can even move out of Texas  I've already told SWMBO that I'm getting a tattoo of Texas when/if we move

Theory. That's where I wanna live. But apparently they no longer accept immigrants. Or issue visas.

That's so cool you would move for her school! MrFebtober did the same for me, with no hesitation. Living in Montana was like a 3-year vacation for us - I hope you have the same experience in Canada!

yeah, but did MrFetober get a tatoo of Ohio????? :D

I learned that as well. It's amazing how much we take for granted until we try living on the greener grass on the other side of the fence.

My 5 years in Germany was invaluable in terms of experience and I think all young people should sell everything and try to live abroad for a few years without any help. It's sink or swim time then cause the party is over pretty quick, especially if they don't speak English where you are.

On the other hand, I picked up a second language, international experience, and turned a technical hobby into a career enhancing skill.

Try it, it will be eye opening and a great experience that you will never forget.

Amen Brother, I second that...

Quit my very good job of 9 1/2 years, sold my house and everything in it, all my tools , guns and sporting equipment and moved to a place where I knew ONE person... 10,000 miles from home.

You learn a LOT... VERY fast.

Fist thing you learn is not to say.. "We do that differently in America"

Well, Canada is a possibility.... we could just as easily end up in Austin again if she gets into/wants to go to UT. If she wants to move out of state though I've been pushing for Indiana Univ in Bloomington...dunno why I've never even been to the Midwest!

Thats where im from. I would rather be in Alaska. :p

Like Marfa, Terlingua, Fort Stockton area???

Hehe who wants that on their arm??

No, I want mine in old school tattoo green. An outline of Texas with a banner running through it and the year my family came to Texas (shouldn't be hard to find out since we have a ranch that was an original Mexican land grant).....need to get off my ass and figure out when that was though!!

Wow long post :D

If I could move to anywhere right now, I would move to St Croix Virgin Islands. The weather is awesome, the scenery is awesome, and the rum is bloody awesome as well. And most of all I could probable take all of those above add me brew and convert alot of the locals............:drunk:

Beer on the beach fer me..:rockin:

Hong Kong -- great food and San Miguel (and yes I know it's from the Phillipeans, but it used to be the biggest seller in Hong Kong before that damn Carlsberg stuff)

Hey Sam Miguel is some pretty good and refreashing beer. When you're over there baking it the hot hot sun, one of those SM lites hits the spot like one of those...

Then one get a stout and hang out.....

Australia is pretty damned good to me... been here for 10 years exactly as of today.

I was reading through this thread, thinking, 'Why has no one mentioned OZ?'

Funniest, most crazy people I've ever met. Sunshine, surfing, health care, etc.

Not sure whom the quote is attributed to, but the story goes something like this. An American Journalist came over for the 2000 Olympics, and when he got back to USA he was talking on air with one of the other sports journalists, and was asked what he thought of the people in Oz.

His reply? "I have never met a louder, more arrogant, more obnoxious group of people than Australians when they are drunk... which appears to most of the time."

Bloody Oath!

HAHA thats great. I have only met one person from Australia and she was drop dead gorgeous accent was pretty hot too. She also drank with the best of em.

I've met several Aussies, and while they do get rowdy while drunk, they don't seem any more arrogant than any of the other colonials :D. If I had to pick another country, it'd be either Canada(specifically BC), or Scotland. Both have climates that agree with me, and cultures that I just love.

Then again I hear Darfur is lovely this time of year....

and one of the most difficult things about moving here initially was that a LOT of hot aussie ladies with awesome bodies used to hit on me all the time.. it was TORTURE. Super hot SWMBO that's gets jealous at the drop of a hat, and super hotties that actually buy YOU drinks....

The ladies here are VERY enlightened and fully in charge.. they buy you drinks, drink you under the table, flock you until you nearly have a heart attack, and don't care if you ring them back... unles you want to get drunk and screw again.

Ahhh Paradise... Beautiful one day, Perfect the next....

SO where did you guys want to visit again?

The downside, Pete, is that everything in OZ is deadly poisonous. Everything. Even the women. Some of the sheep aren't though, so you have that going for you.

No argument there, but I would still have to vote for Pattiya Thailand. You know good boys go to heaven, bad boys go to Pattiya. Hey if I got tire of that I could always check out OZ.

I've never been out of the USA, this is all I know and this is most likely where I'll be for the rest of my life... if it came to me having to leave this country for some reason, I'd stay and fight... my family's roots are from here, yes they came over from England and Germany, but they left those countries to become an American.

I have relatives who have went back to England and Germany to visit distant relatives and to see where our ancestors lived (some of our castles still stand and are still occupied by our family name) but I feel as if my family left those countries to come to America to be apart of the new world, new opportunity.

I'm not gloating or saying USA is the best, but my family came here for a reason and I'm happy to live here and be an American.... i'm sure it'll be nice to visit those countries one day when I can actually afford to get over there, but I'd never move there for any reason.

Maybe I'm stubborn.

Having Irish heritage (although I think half my ancestors got shipped off to Australia for horse-theivery!), I would give Ireland a go, but not in Dublin or any other large city. I'm definitely picturing the whole thatched cottage, seashore deal in a small town with a local pub (or three). Or Scotland. I LOVED Edinburgh, and Scottish accents are about the damn sexiest thing I have ever heard. Woo for men with nice legs and kilts! :mug:

I've spent about 6 months in Austria and Germany. I'd love to go live in either of those places for an extended period of time.
