What other country would you live in?

The downside, Pete, is that everything in OZ is deadly poisonous. Everything. Even the women. Some of the sheep aren't though, so you have that going for you.

Possibly the best quote I've come across on this site so far...

For me it would probably be Germany. I did a 220 Km hike through rural Bavaria a few years back, camping in peoples gardens, talking to every local we came across... The people are so nice...

Scotland would be a close second, or maybe even a first if I was too lazy to really learn the German... I go there every Feburary for a huge trampolining competition and there is so much craic to be had...

I would like to see Oz and NZ too, and plan to at some point. It's quite common for Irish people to go down for a year after finishing college, but who knows when I'll finish up here... 6 Years down ??? to go...

I've been in five or six other countries and only lived in one other. I would not by choice live in any of them. I looked into New Zealand & Oz for retirement, but it would have been very difficult to meet the emigration requirements at my age. Haven't been to Europe, so I can't make a call.

From my Navy days: Yank sailors can't rent cars in Oz for three reasons: the beer is too strong, the skirts are too short (1970s) and they drive on the wrong side of the road. Never did get there myself. They weren't allowing nuc subs in the ports.

Bermuda-
Super clean, nice people, great food, purfect.
That said-too expensive.

The grand plan is to pay off the house in the next 10 yrs, hit miami again, hit the bahamas, and then just go with the wind for a while..

Got to be a warm climate for me. Mediterranean. Oh, a country? Probably any coastal one that also don't support blowing things up, has a dicatator etc. Guess Cyprus since my wife is from there and they got them there topless beaches. Relaxed lifestyle too. But all the relatives would have to go since they're a pain in the arse. Guess I could take over the uncles hotel. I'd have to make my own beer since Keo is well; Keo!

Also, The Mediterranean sea isn't shark infested like the Caribbean.

I am surprised so many people like Belgium. Aside from great beer, it's like the Arkansas of western Europe...

I really like the Baleric Islands, but Crete and the southern coast of Turkey are higher on my list...

You could move to Texas. It's great out here. We have mountains, desert, great beers, hot weather, cold weather or mostly warm weather, loads of sunshine, no income tax, and everything is bigger here. :D

They said "what OTHER country", not "which armpit of THIS country". :D

Yea except the fact that its not bigger in Teaxs as Alaska. Where we have bigger guns, bears, mountians, women!

wait

Sounds good to me - anyplace that has topless beaches would be high on my list - at least it's evidence that they have fewer sticks up their asses about sexuality, etc. It would be nice to see a casual **** or a weener on TV every now and then. :ban:

Germany, specifically Berchtesgaden. Spent the best weeks of my life there. Garmish is a close second.

Garmish is amazing. Bavaria is one of the best places I have ever been.

Germany is my choice with Ireland being a close second, never been there though.

I say anywhere in S. America. Yes for the most part the beer sucks but the women are unbeleivable as are the food, wine, and cost of living.

Yeah.. you nailed it there mate.. and they LOVE an accent. My wife is a hottie.. BIG TIME!

Yeah, but who is that guy she's with? :D

I would have to second Ireland and the UK. I would take Ireland first though. The people are super nice, there is a lot to do, the beer is excellant, etc etc. I am in the navy and have been on numerous deployments and various trips overseas, and the nicest people i have met have been in Ireland, Scotland, and Halifax, Canada. If i could be 23 and single the rest of my life, i would live in Halifax. Talk about a party town!! There is a three story building with like 8 bars in it which is nick named the Liquor Dome.
