Hi, I have an empty plastic vial (from some pitchable Hefeweizen WLP300) from White Labs left over from brewing a citrus weizen. It's a neat vial and all, but I don't have a use for it, so I'm debating recycling it, but I don't see a number anywhere on it. What number plastic would it be? If it's 1 or 2, my recycling center will take it.

Failing that, are there any uses you can think of using it for? I know I could wash the yeast, but it sounds like a lot of work for someone who's just beginning, and I'm not sure if I'd really want to make another Hefeweizen so soon after this batch. I'm keeping it around right now mostly so that I don't forget what the number of the yeast is. I also have a ton of vanilla beans, so I might use it as a storage container for some of them.

For such a nice bottle, it'd be a shame to throw it away. If someone wants it, I could mail it to them.

I just looked at the label more closely, and I found a 1 printed on it. Looks like I can recycle it, but I might look into that customer club instead. One stamp should do it, right?

That there is PET. polyethylene teraphthalate.

Those little guys actually preforms used to make bottles. Somewhere along the line somebody decided they made really good vials.
