What is the correct tap size for making your own handles?

I bought a metric set of tap and dyes but haven't really opened it yet. I am wanting to make my own taps and wondering what is the standard size tap that I should be using for my perlick taps?

I have searched here and perlick with no luck. My guess is that I will need to get a SAE set too since perlick is in the US but thought this may be a standard thing too.

Standard thread for tap handles is 3/8-16

What he said...I jsut tapped a pineapple grenade for my two faucet 3" tower...it was 3/8" x 16 thread pitch
